Last Quarter of the Moon

It's the start of the last quarter today (that is, the last waning quarter of the moon phase), so this is the period to tie up any loose ends and finish up any projects you've been working on.  Now is not the time to launch any new endeavours.  Give yourself the time to clean up the old stuff and just... breathe.

Rune for the Day

I needed some spiritual advice today so I decided to draw a rune for the day.

Tiwaz-The Warrior Rune was the rune that was drawn for today.

Some of the characteristics of Tiwaz are:

  • Bravery
  • Daring
  • Dedication
  • Tactical Genius
  • Personal Power
Now is the time to believe in yourself and stick up for what you believe in.  The energy surrounding you at this time is one of power.  Use that power to reach your goals.

Rune for the Day

The Rune for the day is Wunjo.
The Rune of JOY

Joy
Hope
Happiness
Light
Emotional Satisfaction

The Wunjo rune is similar to the 9 of Cups tarot card and The World tarot card.  There is the emotional satisfaction of the 9 of Cups and the feeling of completeness of The World.   When Wunjo is picked in a rune reading it brings a feeling of contentment and/or completeness to a reading. Wunjo as a rune of the day is reminding me of the joy and happiness I have in my life and to continue to take the necessary steps to keep these feelings alive.
I
Wunjo rune poem

He enjoys Delight who know little of woe,
Of suffering and sorrow,
And has for his own prosperity, pleasure,
Eke the plenty of cities.

Rune for the Day.

I'm enjoying this lazy Sunday afternoon with my family.  I took time to write the Tarot Horoscope for The Whispering Path Tarot Blog and also to pick a Rune for the Day!

The daily rune is Pertho.

Chance
Mystery
Secrets
Unknown

What a nice rune for a lazy day.  Anything or nothing can happen today. I'm fine with whatever the day brings.

The tarot card equivalent to the Pertho rune would be The Wheel of Fortune.

Rune Reading for My Vacation

I'm so excited!  I'm leaving for a cruise in a few days.  It's the first cruise I have ever gone on and I hope I enjoy it.  I decided to draw a rune from my rune bag to see what energy is surrounding this event.  The rune was Raido.

The meaning of Raido is travel, (arrival or departure).  It can mean events concerning travel or vehicles.  What a perfect rune for my trip.

On a deeper level, Raido is concerned with movement and direction.   It reminds us of the planning and foresight that is necessary to make these happen.  Raido can be a symbol of The Journey of Life and a spiritual quest.

The Wheel of Life tarot card is similar to Raido.  They both speak of cycles and changes in ones life.

If you would like a personal rune reading or tarot reading email and book your appointment time now.  :)

Rune Reading-My Rune for today

I needed some guidance and looked to my runes.  What do I need to be aware of?

My rune for today is Sowelo

Sowelo is the rune of energy and revelation.  I took the advice of this rune and spent most of the day in the beautiful sunshine.  The energy of the sun melted deep into my soul and uplifted me as I was feeling rather 'blue'.

This rune is speaks of;

  • heat
  • energy
  • revelations
  • light
  • wholeness
  • victory
  • discovery
  • disclosure
I feel this is a very positive rune and a very positive message is being sent to me through Sowelo.  I took some time for introspection and saw that things are not as bad as I felt they were.  If fact, there were no issues at all.  I was just feeling blue.  It's amazing what a bit of sunshine can do for you.

Rune Meanings - the Elder Futhark

Elder Futhark

Elder Futhark is thought to be the oldest version of the Runic alphabet, and was used in the parts of Europe which were home to Germanic peoples, including Scandinavia. Other versions probably developed from it. The names of the letters are shown in Common Germanic, the reconstructed ancestor of all Germanic languages.
Elder Futhark

Notes

The letter k is also called kēnaz (torch) or kanō (skiff). The meaning of the letter nameperþ is unknown.

The Othala Rune

The Othala rune, pronounced “Oh-thall-ah”, is the rune of ancestral spiritual power, divine inheritance and earthly estate.  Othala deals with family, inheritance and estate matters.  Othala represents permanent wealth you have accumulated by yourself and your family over generations.

My Rune Energy for the day

The rune energy surrounding me today is Sowilo.  Sowilo is the rune of goal-setting, guidance and success.  This mirrored my tarot reading for today.  My day was successful as I had a list of things to accomplish and I completed all my tasks successfully.  :) In other words, I had a bunch of housework to do and I set my mind to it and got it all done. lol

I hope you had a Sowilo rune day too.

More About What to Ask of Runes

Sometimes when you're looking at drawing a Rune to get a general overview of the entire issue it can help you focus more clearly on your issue and provide you with a fresh perspective.

As mentioned in the previous blog, focusing on the one Rune invites you to go within and function intuitively - in other words, getting to know yourself.

Drawing a single Rune is particularly helpful under stress.  If you're dealing with an issue that is requiring quick action and you feel you don't have enough information, then search for a quiet place and draw a Rune.  Often times you'll find some more insight into the issue at hand fairly quickly.

If you'd like to learn the Runes, or receive a Rune reading on an issue you have, please contact us at The Whispering Path.

Question to the Runes on a Matter of Health

A woman came to me asking about the issue of the health of her husband, and what information he needed to know at this time regarding this issue.

The Rune I pulled was Isa.  It was apparent that her husband was feeling powerless and unable to make any movement towards good health.  She was able to confirm that he was refusing to acknowledge the input he personally had towards his health issue, and therefore, was unchanging in his personal habits.  This of course caused him to feel frustrated over the situation he was in, even though deep down, he had within him the tools to take action.

My suggestion to her was to help him find out what he believed at his core that perpetuated this situation, and then to help him release that faulty belief and prepare for new beliefs.

Stay tuned... I'll let you know how it goes.  If you feel that a Rune reading would help you gain insight into your own life, please contact us at The Whispering Path.

What to Ask of the Runes...

In general, the use of Runes isn't for fortune telling.  Rather, the Runes are a teacher and a source of guidance.  'Know thyself' is the mantra of the Runes.  Consulting them will help put you in touch with your own inner guidance, that part of you that already knows everything you need to know for your life now.

So when consulting Runes, a particularly good time to do this is when you have an issue that relates to timeliness and right action.  You might need advice on whether or not to make a career change, make an investment, move to a new home, sell a business or start a relationship.  It should always be about an issue, not a question.

In fact, the best question sometimes is to simply ask "what do I need to know for my life now?"

If you have an issue that is still troubling you, and you feel as if you have exhausted your own resources in trying to resolve the issue, then talk to us at The Whispering Path for a Rune reading.  We'd be glad to help.

Rune Reading for the Energy around bin Laden's Death

With the surprising news last night of Osama bin Laden's killing, I decided to pull a rune - my question was "what kind of energy will support the Americans through this news".  Interestingly, Eihwaz was the rune that stuck to my fingers.   This rune is about defense - perseverence and patience and caution are called for.  Take care of anticipated difficulties before they present themselves.

Very fitting, I think.

My Daily Rune

My rune for today is the rune Algiz.  This is such a positive exciting rune that some people will wear it as an amulet to enhance the positive energy that surrounds it.  If you are sick this rune can symbolize the return of good health.  Algiz is the rune of protection and suggests that now is the time to follow your intuition for a guardian angel is hovering in the background. Old and new friends at this time may offer you assistance.  An opportunity may be presented to you soon which will send you in a new direction.

Algiz is a symbol of:
  • power
  • protection
  • communication
  • spirituality

Algiz--to have courage in the face of fear but not the absence of fear.  Fear could be a warning to us that protection and defensiveness will be needed at this time.

Rune for a Home

Today I wanted to know the energy around  a home I'd seen - was it time to move?  My current home, on an inland lake has spectacular views of the water from every room except the one upstairs bathroom.  I can tell you there's nothing better than eating a leisurely brunch while looking out at the birds on the feeders and waves lapping at the rocks.

So I got out my trust bag of Runes and pulled first of all Laguz, then Jera, then reversed Wunjo.  So, certainly Laguz... flow... is where my heart lives.  I love the water in any form, and certainly want it where I live.  I have it in the home I live in now, and there was a fab view of Georgian Bay from the home I looked at this week.  It also tells me now it's a time for cleansing, and preparation and re-organization.

Jera is the harvest, and tells me that there is no rushing this decision, I must have patience and persevere.  Finally, Wunjo reversed gave me a little bit of a jolt just to see 'joy' reversed.  However, reversed it is a test and reinforces the need for patience and perseverance.

So, I believe this house is not the one, and my search will a little longer than I thought and will probably take me into the fall (harvest time).  I'll let you know how it goes.

My Daily Rune-Mannaz

Mannaz-(Mah-nawz)  is the rune of humanity.

Simular to the tarot card The Magician.
  • clarity
  • creativity
  • intelligence
  • kindness
  • consideration
Mannaz is letting you know the energy surrounding you at this time is telling you to 'seize the day'.  Embrace life!  Accept the good and the bad.  Balance your mind, body and spirit.

“If each man or woman could understand that every other human life is as full of sorrows, or joys, or base temptations, of heartaches and of remorse as his own . . . how much kinder, how much gentler he would be.”
